Elden Ring: Golden Rune Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

Elden Ring Golden Runes allow you to get quick cash without fighting and are mandatory for any player looking to level up.

These glowing remnants are found in skulls on the ground or hidden in the Nightreign expansion. You'll need them for reaching the next level or buying that expensive armor you’ve been eyeing.

Easy Early-Game Pickups

Grabbing these in the starting areas is an important part of getting your stats up before the first boss:

• Glowing Skulls: These are found all over Limgrave. Ride Torrent over them or hit them to get a Golden Rune [1] worth 200 runes.
• Stormhill Graveyards: North of the Gatefront, you will find several tombs with items on top. These are a top choice for early players, often holding Golden Rune [1] and [5].
• Agheel Lake South: South of the lake, look for tombs surrounded by wolves. These are the best locations for quick runes before entering the lake.

Shadow Realm Runes (DLC)

In the Realm of Shadow, "Shadow Realm Runes" are the basic items for handling the DLC's tougher enemies:

• Belurat Gaol: Head past the spirit NPC to the room on the right for a Shadow Realm Rune [3] worth 12,500 runes.
• Taylew's Ruined Forge: Right after the first Site of Grace, look over the edge of the first patio to find a hidden rune.
• Stone Coffin Fissure: Follow the main path down carefully; a Shadow Realm Rune [3] is guarded by a group of enemies.

2026 Nightreign: Rune Expeditions

The 2026 Nightreign update has changed how you collect wealth in the Limveld area. Unlike the base game, runes here are a temporary currency used during your run.

• Dormant Powers: Instead of finding items in skulls, look for Dormant Powers. Collecting these is the best way to get massive rune boosts during an expedition.
• Castle Sewer Tree: Inside the randomized Nightreign Castle, finding the Rune Tree in the sewers is a vital necessity. It grants a buff that increases all rune drops for the rest of your run.
• Golden Dew & Sprouts: These are key items found in Limveld that can be traded with the Scale-Bearing Merchant for permanent stat boosts.
